TOPEKA, Kan. — The Board of Regents’ Fiscal Affairs and Audit Standing Committee voted on May 14 to recommend a distribution of $2.5 million in need‑based aid to public universities for fiscal year 2026, funds that were included in the 2024 state omnibus appropriations.
Vice President Frisbie told the committee the proposal would “distribute the funding in exactly the same proportion as was done for fiscal year 2025,” and that the detailed allocation table and supporting materials were available on the board website with the board agenda materials. Committee members moved and seconded the recommendation; the motion passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
Committee members and staff emphasized the role of need‑based aid in recruitment and retention. Frisbie noted the State Higher Education Finance report posted the same day updated Kansas’s ranking among states for state‑supported financial aid. The recommendation will appear on the board’s consent agenda for final approval this afternoon.
The committee also approved the April 16 meeting minutes by voice vote earlier in the session.
