Board recognizes 217 ‘All Star’ high schools for college‑going events

The Kansas Board of Regents recognized 217 high schools May 14 that met the board’s All Star High School criteria by running Apply Kansas events, FAFSA completion sessions and senior signing activities in the 2024–25 school year.
Misty Knox, associate director overseeing Apply Kansas initiatives, told the board the program began in 2022 and has grown each year: 69 schools joined the All Star program this year and overall participation in Apply Kansas rose from 126 schools to 261 schools, Knox said. The All Star recognition program is part of the board’s Building a Future strategic plan and is intended to expand access and support high school seniors through the college‑application and FAFSA processes.
Representatives from several recognized schools attended the meeting for a short onstage recognition and a photo opportunity. Knox said a press release and social media recognition would follow.
The board paused its business to take photographs and to allow school leaders and counselors to gather information materials after the recognition.
