The Carroll County Board of Supervisors voted April 28 to relocate its next regular meeting to the auxiliary gym at Carroll County High School because the courthouse’s air-conditioning chiller is being replaced.
Board members said the contractor replacing the chiller has fallen behind schedule, and that additional contractor work will be required to reprogram the building controller. "For some time, we have been in the process of replacing the chiller unit in the building. The company has fell behind with getting the necessary equipment in order to change it out," Mr. Watson, a county staff member, told the board.
The board made a motion to change the meeting location to the Carroll County High School auxiliary gym; the record does not identify the motion’s mover or seconder. The board then voted with all members present recorded as voting yes: Supervisor Moore, Supervisor Horton, Supervisor Bryant, Supervisor Collins, Supervisor Erling and the presiding member who announced the final yes vote. The motion passed.
Board members briefly discussed whether the relocation should apply only to the May meeting or extend into June. Mr. Watson told the board the replacement work "might be a few more weeks" and that staff expected to have clearer timing by May. The motion as passed did not specify a duration for the relocation.
The vote followed the agenda item in which the board opened and closed budget public hearings. After the location vote the board moved to adjourn.
