Mayor Richard Barnhart read a proclamation declaring April 25, 2025, as National Arbor Day in the city of West Carrollton and invited residents to a community tree-planting event at Wilson Park at 5:30 p.m.
The proclamation cited the value of trees to property values, business vitality and residents’ well-being, and noted West Carrollton’s recognition as a Tree City USA for its urban-forest management.
"Now, therefore, I, Richard Barnhart, the mayor of the city of West Carrollton, and on behalf of city council, do hereby proclaim 04/25/2025 as National Arbor Day in the city of West Carrollton," Barnhart read. The proclamation urged community members "to renew our pledge to protect, improve, and beautify our natural surroundings." City staff announced the tree-planting at Wilson Park on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. and invited the public to attend.
The proclamation is ceremonial action by council and was read during the communications and presentations portion of the meeting.
