Belton council re-elects David Caylee as mayor and names John Holmes mayor pro tem

A councilmember nominated Caylee: "I nominate David Caylee for another 1 year term," and the motion carried unanimously after several colleagues offered support and brief remarks praising his knowledge and leadership. Council members highlighted Caylee's institutional knowledge and collaborative relationships with staff and the business community.
John Holmes was nominated and seconded for mayor pro tem; council members praised his planning-and-zoning experience and his work with the Belton Economic Development Corporation. The motion to appoint Holmes also passed unanimously.
Both appointments were made by voice vote with no recorded opposition. Council members said they expect the mayor and mayor pro tem to continue representing the city at events and in meetings with staff and partner organizations.
