The Big Spring City Council approved a three‑year lease with Fortitude Mining LLC for Building 1B at 1600 First Avenue in the McMahon Winkle Airport industrial park and authorized termination and release of the prior Foundry Digital LLC lease.
Staff said the prior tenant’s lease expired in May 2024 and that Foundry Digital underwent corporate changes and is now Fortitude Mining LLC; the new lease is for three years with a one‑year renewal option. City staff reported the tenant pays roughly $346,000 per year; during later council discussion one councilor rounded that to about $350,000 and another noted the tenant’s electricity demand is about 11 megawatts.
Maya Sethi, vice president of legal for Fortitude Mining, joined the meeting by Zoom and introduced herself. Staff and council described Fortitude as a long‑term tenant and said staff supports the lease; the measure passed unanimously. Councilors noted the tenant contributes rent and utility franchise revenue and discussed the economic benefit to the city.
No amendments or additional conditions were recorded in the motion to approve the lease during the meeting.
