The Windcrest Parks and Recreation Commission agreed on March 27 to collect community input on the 2025 Light-Up dedication-tree theme at the city's community social on March 28.
Commissioner Selena Enheil presented a proposed approach to solicit suggestions directly at the commission table during the event, using either 3-by-5 suggestion cards or a QR code patrons could scan to submit ideas electronically. Enheil provided a list of past dedication themes for context and said the materials would include that history so people could avoid repeating recent themes.
In the materials presented to the commission, staff identified the themes they were able to locate from past years; those illustrations were intended to help respondents choose or rotate themes. The commission briefly discussed distributing comment cards at the community-social table and staffing the table with commissioners during the event.
Commissioners asked for a simple collection method and agreed that index cards and a collection box at the table would be sufficient; staff also prepared a QR-code option for those who prefer digital submission. Commissioners asked that the history of recent themes be posted at the table so respondents could see past selections.
No vote was required for the outreach method; the commission decided to proceed with both physical and electronic collection and to bring collated results back for a future decision on the final 2025 dedication-tree theme.
