Seagoville modifies Crestview–Malloy signal timing; public works offers sign and camera options at Walgreens exit

Chris Bryant, Seagoville public works director, told the City Council the signal at Crestview and Malloy has been reprogrammed to give Crestview 23 seconds of green to relieve weekend backup near Tractor Supply.
"We had them reprogram it ... to 23 seconds on the Crestview to give more time," Bryant said, adding the setting has been in place for about three weeks. He said the change aimed to address traffic that had been backing up at Tractor Supply on weekends.
Bryant said the city has a quote for a camera and new computer system to manage the intersection if the timing change does not resolve the issue. The equipment quote is $26,460; Bryant said he could bring that proposal back to council if staff decide not to wait and monitor the current setting.
Bryant also addressed a one-way sign at the exit from the Walgreens island. The existing 8-by-24-inch sign could be replaced with a 12-by-18-inch sign for greater visibility. He said staff can switch to the larger sign immediately; smaller regulatory signs cost about $70. Council asked whether a solar-powered flashing sign would help; Bryant said such stop-sign-style flashing units run about $2,500 to $3,500.
Bryant said staff will monitor the intersection under the new timing and can return with the camera/computer quote if congestion persists.
