City manager reports City Council named Council of the Year; delegation to Austin for legislative meetings

City Manager Randy told the Planning and Zoning Commission on Feb. 11 that the Portland City Council was honored as “Council of the Year” by the Texas City Managers Association and will travel to San Antonio in June to accept the award.
Randy said the recognition reflects council performance and the community’s stature. He also described a legislative agenda packet on the commissioners’ dais and said that the mayor, some council members and senior staff would travel to Austin the following day to meet with state legislators about issues affecting Portland residents. Randy added the city will again be in Austin in a few weeks for “San Trishield County Day at The Hill” to press local priorities at the state level.
Miss Hall reported that no public comments were received on the Planning and Zoning Commission side. No formal action was taken on the city manager report; it was presented for information.
