Council awards $79,420 elevator repair contract for University Park Public Library

The University Park City Council approved awarding a $79,420 contract to Prestige Elevator Services for repair and modernization work on the Second Floor elevator at the University Park Public Library.
Assistant City Manager Shanna Sims Bradish presented the item and said the library elevator has been in intermittent service since the building opened and had been out of service for approximately six months. Public Works and procurement staff solicited proposals and recommended Prestige because of the contractor’s experience with the elevator model and a shorter lead time of 8–10 weeks, which staff said would help restore access in time for the library’s summer reading program.
Council members voiced support for restoring elevator service and noted the proposal cost was significantly less than full replacement. The council voted to award the contract; recorded ayes included Alyssa Raymond, Phil Philbin, Bob Myers and Mayor Tommy Stewart.
Staff said they expect work to begin following contract execution and will report progress to council if required.
