Snyder Plaza construction continues; parking task force to present recommendations in March

City officials updated residents that Snyder Plaza work is in phase 4 and said the project remains ahead of schedule.

Mayor Tommy Stewart described the project as addressing aging infrastructure and adding pavement, sidewalk improvements, stormwater work and a new parking lot. He said the project scope was recently expanded to include the corner of Hillcrest and Daniel and that work on that corner will start in about four months.

The city created a Snyder Plaza employee parking task force to examine parking options; the task force will present final recommendations to city council in March, Stewart said. Asked whether Snyder Plaza or Miracle Mile would move to paid parking, staff said the parking study is still ongoing and indicated a possible trial period could be considered; a final decision and any hourly cost would be reported after the March task force presentation.

Parking enforcement and staffing were also discussed during the question period. Officials said enforcement covers Snyder Plaza, Miracle Mile and residential parking districts but staffing is limited. The meeting noted the city currently has only about two full‑time equivalent staff assigned to these parking duties, which constrains continuous enforcement across the city's multiple parking districts.
