Parks and Recreation Commission records multiple procedural votes, recommends reappointment

CONVERSE, Texas — The Converse Parks and Recreation Commission on April 14 took a series of procedural votes including excusing two member absences, approving minutes from two prior meetings, tabling the pool-update presentation and a rescheduling decision for a movie-in-the-park event, approving final details for a children’s craft day and recommending Brad Kessler for reappointment to the commission.

The commission excused the absence of Leandrea Rodriguez from the March 29 workshop and excused Stephanie Haley’s absence for the same meeting. The panel voted to approve minutes from the March 10 regular meeting and the March 29 workshop. Commission members moved and seconded to table the pool project update until the May meeting because the presenter, Danny Lee, was not present.

The commission also tabled the item to reschedule a previously canceled movie-in-the-park showing and approved final details for a kids craft day scheduled for May 10 at City Park from 10 a.m. to noon. The commission set its next regular meeting for Monday, May 12 at 6 p.m. in City Council chambers and agreed to include an interactive public-input session on the park plan update at that meeting.

The most contested motion was a recommendation to city council that Brad Kessler be reappointed as a full member of the commission after discussion over his attendance at events.
