At the March 4 meeting, the City Council approved several appointments to regional boards and local commissions.
The council unanimously appointed Jonathan Smith to serve as the city’s representative on the Canyon Regional Water Board of Managers. The mayor made the recommendation and a council motion to approve Jonathan Smith as manager was seconded and carried.
On local commissions, the council appointed Richard McBroom as a full‑time member of the Parks & Recreation Commission and named Leandra Davis Rodriguez as an alternate member; both motions carried.
The council also discussed the Canyon Regional Authority Board of Trustees vacancy (a separate trustee seat) and deferred that appointment to a later meeting to allow time for recruitment and review; staff noted the trustee position must reside in the authority service area and need not be an elected official.
No votes were opposed during the actions recorded at the meeting; appointments will be reflected in the city’s roster and staff will transmit required notifications to the regional authority and commission chairs.
