The staff described the proposed program as a regional workforce asset that would bring students to Levelland for training. "I'm ecstatic that we that we're here ... we are going to have captive students in our community for over 6 weeks living here, dining here, spending their money here, and hopefully falling in love with our community," Mayor Andres said.
Councilmember discussion was brief. Supporters emphasized local economic benefits and the program’s regional appeal; staff and the council noted the school could help train employees for area businesses. One speaker said the school "is gonna be a community or regional asset" and expressed hope that nearby communities would take advantage of the training.
