Public works staff briefed the Board of Public Works on storm-main replacement work on Oshkosh Street and related grant funding.
The staff report described assessments that found many segments of the 48‑inch storm main are in good condition and that deficiencies will be addressed selectively. Replacing every 48‑inch section would add about $990,000 to the project, but staff said targeted replacements and engineering choices keep the work within available grant funding.
Robert said the contractor MCC submitted the low construction bid of $409,525.55. Staff said the project is funded by grant money at approximately a 90/10 split; the 10 percent local share will be split between the city and Liberty. The state engineering fee was estimated at $86,400 but staff expects that to be lower when finalized.
Work details include replacing inlets, installing new leads, coring connections into the old main to create sealed joints and installing a 12‑inch line behind the curb in some sections to serve sump connections. Sanitary main work from Wolf River toward Washington Street and related laterals were reported as complete or near complete. Utility relocation by the gas company is underway where conflicts exist.
Staff said there is no preconstruction meeting date yet from the state. No formal action was required at the meeting.
