Belinda Baker of 125 South Fern Country Street addressed the Eaton City Council during public comment on April 21 to say she was cited after walking at the city soccer park early one morning.
Baker said she had previously asked the council for permission to walk at the soccer park between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. and that she has been walking there for about a year. She said police told her to leave the park during a recent early-morning visit and then issued a ticket at her home.
A council member and staff recommended Baker speak directly with the police department as the next step. Baker said she believed the park opens at 5 a.m.; a staff member confirmed the park’s opening time as 5 a.m. The transcript shows Baker’s arraignment date is scheduled for April 28 and that the charge is described in the transcript as trespassing.
Council did not take further action during the meeting; staff advised Baker to contact the police department to seek clarification and next steps.
