And so the new information, factually, his house is for sale,” Porterfield said during the public debate before making the removal motion.

Supporters of the removal argued that Clark’s recent activity — including a home listed for sale and a separate residence in Harris County — meant he no longer intended Hutto as his domicile. Opponents said Clark had provided the standard documents and declarations the council previously adopted to interpret the charter.
