Gunter official sets Feb. 19 deadline for burn-house demolition, warns of legal action afterward

City staff told the council that property owners have until Feb. 19 to demolish and clear a burned structure; after that date the city will pursue legal action.

"The deadline for demo and clearance is February 19," a staff member said. "On the twentieth, if it's not done and they understand that I am waiting for this day, I will move on to activate legal, and we'll move to the next step." The staff member said the burned structure passed inspection in a manner that may allow a slab to remain if the owner plans to rebuild.

Council discussion noted there is no authority to act on the property until the deadline passes; staff reiterated the timeline and said they will proceed with legal enforcement after Feb. 19 if the owner does not comply.
