City staff reported Feb. 10 that federal immigrant drop‑offs to McAllen have fallen sharply from late 2024 into February 2025.
Staff provided monthly figures during the commission meeting: October 2024 — 3,634 drop‑offs; November 2024 — 3,594; December 2024 — 5,191; January 2025 — 3,188. For February 2025, staff said the daily rate was under 12 per day at the time of the report and projected total February drop‑offs to be below 350 if that pace continued.
The city said staff continue to meet regularly with federal, state and local agencies and will monitor changes. No operational or budgetary actions were announced at the meeting.
