Traffic commission approves three speed humps on Edgebrook Road after consultant review

The Framingham Traffic Commission voted on April 22 to install three speed humps on Edgebrook Road, endorsing the configuration recommended in a VHB traffic study.
DPW staff presented the consultant’s analysis of spacing, driveway impacts, drainage and sight lines and said the consultant offered options for three, four or five humps. "If for some reason we see a need to install the additional speed humps, nothing else would have to change except that additional installation," a DPW representative said. The commission approved the three-hump option and authorized field layout adjustments to avoid utilities and driveways.
Commissioners noted the proposed locations address resident complaints about church traffic and vehicles exiting events, and that the recommended spacing places one hump north of the church and two to the south. DPW said the highway division will mark final locations in the field, confirm ADA and drainage clearances and avoid surface utilities before installation.
A motion to install the three speed humps was made, seconded and approved by roll call; commissioners present recorded unanimous support. DPW did not provide an exact construction schedule at the meeting but said timing would depend on weather and the highway division’s workload.
The commission’s action authorizes the DPW highway division to proceed with final field layout and later installation; if conditions require, additional humps from the consultant’s alternate plan can be added as a follow-up installation.
