Coach Carl Blanton Sr., who introduced the basketball players, described a 24-3 season and said the team spent most of the year ranked in the top 10 in the state. Blanton said the team defeated the state’s No. 1 team during the regular season and was scheduled to play Louisville in the state championship the following day. The board presented certificates to the coaches and players who attended.
Board member Mr. Triggs joined in congratulating the students and coaches, and the board invited those present to pose for a group photo.
The recognitions came as the board opened its meeting and included brief remarks praising student public speaking and staff support. No formal votes or policy actions accompanied the presentations.
