Council OKs $600,000 contract to continue window replacement at Shore Cultural Center

Euclid City Council authorized a contract not to exceed $600,000 for the next phase of window replacement at the Shore Cultural Center.
Administration told council the action follows earlier acceptance of a state capital grant and completion of the first two phases of window work. The contract will allow the contractor that completed the earlier phases to order the new windows — which take roughly eight weeks to manufacture — and schedule installation once the windows arrive.
Councilman Toulton asked whether the city would face cost overruns; staff said the contract is a fixed amount and that previous phases did not exceed contract amounts. The administration said the $600,000 contract will not cover every remaining window: 55 windows remain, and about 35 of those are on a wall that may need structural work and a partial roof fix before replacement can proceed.
City staff said they have re‑applied for a possible congressional designation to help fund the remaining windows and any necessary roof or structural work. Council approved the emergency ordinance authorizing the contract during the meeting.
Work under the contract will proceed after the windows are manufactured and delivery and installation schedules are coordinated with the contractor.
