The council also discussed water-main replacements and ongoing stormwater work, noting that federal funding remained uncertain but that the infrastructure issues were deteriorating with each rain event. Councilors agreed to prioritize stormwater and water-main work highly as public-safety and asset-preservation items and asked staff to pursue cost estimates and potential inclusion in the upcoming fiscal-year budgeting process.
No ordinance changes were adopted at the workshop; councilors agreed to return SDC updates and water/stormwater capital plans for future council review once staff had prepared cost analyses and draft ordinance language.
