Council approves short downtown street closure for Conquer the Canyon race on June 7

Chuck Arnold, the city’s events/program manager, said the city reviewed a traffic control plan for the closure and coordinated with departments to minimize impacts. Anne (Laid Out Events), the race organizer, said the event has grown to about 405 registrants at the time of the briefing and she expects up to 500 participants by race day; she said the Arch start contributes to the event’s attraction.
Council approved the public‑assembly permit and the traffic control plan by motion; staff will finalize on‑street details and ensure closures follow the approved plan.
