Middleburg leaders report strong turnout at new farmers market location; multiple town events planned

Town staff and council members reported that the Middleburg Farmers Market’s move to a new location drew positive feedback and an estimated two dozen vendors at the kickoff. Staff said the market will run through Oct. 25 and that interest from additional vendors is growing.
“Overall, really positive feedback from our veteran vendors and then some of our new vendors as well. I believe we had about 24 vendors,” staff member Allen told the council during the report.
The council was briefed on several upcoming events: Art in the Burg (Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.), the Farmers Market (9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on market days), and Middleburg Day on Friday, May 30. Staff said Middleburg Day RSVPs were at 33 at the time of the meeting.
Chief Jones said Juneteenth will be held at the community center this year and is scheduled for a Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.; staff said a flyer was expected to be released soon. Council members praised the market team’s logistics and encouraged residents to spread the word to increase traffic.
Staff also noted small operational improvements at the town hall closeout and that remaining punch-list items — lighting, HVAC and plumbing corrections, and a bench installation — were being completed or scheduled.
