Hopewell council names Michael Rogers interim city manager in unanimous vote

The motion was made by Councilor Day, seconded by Councilor Ellis, and passed on a 4-0 vote with Vice Mayor Joyner, Mayor Parton, Councilor Ellis and Councilor Day voting yes.
The appointment followed council votes earlier in the meeting to terminate the city manager and city clerk. Council did not provide additional public detail about the terms presented to council during the motion; the mayor was authorized to sign the interim agreement.
The council adjourned the special meeting after briefly confirming that the deputy clerk would remain to run the office pending administrative transitions.
