Redmond — The City Council voted to award a $561,286 contract to Pacific WRO for furniture and equipment for Redmond’s new public safety facility, a contract staff said will fit inside the project budget and support flexible workstations, training rooms and public spaces.
Chief Devlin Lewis told council Pacific WRO was selected through Sourcewell, a cooperative purchasing contract, and that the vendor had previously provided furniture for Redmond city hall. "We're currently... looking at a variety of stacking chairs and tables... integrated workstations that would have power and data inside the workstations," Lewis said, summarizing the purchase.
Project status: Lewis reported the building is on track to finish this summer and within the project cap. He said the project has spent about $26.8 million to date and that interior framing and roof work are nearing completion. The furniture contract is intended to outfit training spaces, the emergency operations center, interview rooms and lobby areas.
Disposition of existing furniture: Staff said usable furniture from the current public safety building will be offered first to other city departments, then to local nonprofits, and then handled through the city’s standard surplus process.
Council action: The motion to award the contract and authorize the city manager to sign was made and seconded; the council approved by voice vote. The meeting also approved the consent agenda (minutes of Nov. 18, Nov. 26 and Dec. 5) earlier in the session.
Fiscal note: The contract amount is within the project line item of $600,000 originally budgeted for furniture and equipment. Lewis said the overall project is tracking to meet the $49 million project cap.
Next steps: City staff will finalize purchase orders and coordinate delivery and installation with the construction schedule to align furniture delivery with building completion this summer.
