The board introduced an ordinance authorizing the mayor to execute a professional‑services contract with HDR Inc. not to exceed $185,000 to prepare an alternatives analysis requested by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) as part of permit LRL20081267A reevaluation.
Greg, a city engineering official, said HDR will perform hydraulic modeling, surveying and analysis and present at least three alternatives — including a no‑build option — so the Corps can determine the least environmentally damaging practicable alternative that preserves authorized uses.
“This contract is for HDR to provide an alternatives analysis to the Army Corps of Engineers that they requested as part of their permit reevaluation process associated with sedimentation from the transient boat dock and land mass situation,” Greg said. He added the Corps periodically requests reevaluation to assess sedimentation buildup and effects since permit issuance.
The ordinance was read for introduction; the item will return for final vote in a subsequent meeting. Staff said the contract will be charged to the city’s dredging account.
