Goodwin told the commission that existing portable toilets at the 2.4‑acre neighborhood park are not secured, lack hand‑washing stations and are inaccessible to people who use wheelchairs. “Unless you can pop a wheelie, you cannot get into a porta potty,” Goodwin said, and she asked to be included in planning for park improvements.
Amy (staff member) responded that the city has an active request for proposals (RFP) for a spray‑ground project that includes restrooms. “The RFP is out right now for the spray ground project. It does include restrooms. So we will be updating that restroom facility, and we will have year‑round restrooms in Coleman Park once this project is done,” Amy said. She said the project is a design‑build contract, that the selected vendor will begin stakeholder meetings and that the RFP is due this week; those selected will proceed with design and public meetings.
Goodwin said she wanted to be part of the redesign and noted other park problems she has raised to commissioners. Amy confirmed stakeholders will be invited to meetings after the vendor is selected.
