Several residents asked the Village Board on May 12 when the draft Ellicott Creek report prepared by consultants Gomez and Sullivan would be available for public review and when the board might take action on recommendations.
"Will this copy of the report be available to the public before that meeting on the 20 seventh?" a resident asked. Administrator Canel replied, "It is a draft. It will not be available to the public until it is final."
The resident pressed for timing and whether there would be public comment before any decisions. Administrator Canel said the document would be shared after the consultants finalize it and after the board follows its normal public-input procedures: "After we follow all the procedures that we need to follow for public input, and we know how we're going to fund it. So I don't know when that will be."
Staff later told the meeting Gomez and Sullivan would present remotely at a May 27 work session. "Gomez and Sullivan are doing their presentation remotely because they, again, had a scheduling conflict," a staff member said, and the work session was set for 6 p.m. The board encouraged property owners and residents who want to follow the draft and the proposed options to attend.
No vote on Ellicott Creek recommendations was scheduled at the May 12 meeting. Trustees said they would collect public input after consulting with the consultants and completing any clarifications requested of them.
