Resident asks village to water donated plantings at dog park; staff noted property and volunteer role

At the May 12 Board of Trustees meeting a Bronxville resident asked the village to provide occasional watering for recently donated plantings at the village dog field, citing volunteer labor and donated plants from the Bronxville Gardeners and other residents.
Alexandra Balicenti, a Dusenberry Road resident, described meeting a volunteer who was planting donated shrubs and asked whether the village’s watering truck could be scheduled to water the new plantings if a dry summer occurs. Balicenti said the dog field is village property in effect used as a public space and that residents from outside the village also use the site.
Village officials did not commit to a specific watering schedule at the meeting; they acknowledged the plants and labor were donated and said staff would consider the request. Balicenti identified volunteers by first name only (Eva and Ben) and said the donations and planting were a substantial improvement over the prior condition.
