Trustees appoint Climate Smart Communities task force; staff plan public forum with major energy users

The Village of Bronxville Board of Trustees on May 12 approved appointments to the village Climate Smart Communities task force and discussed plans for a public forum that would let the village’s largest energy consumers share sustainability practices with residents and businesses.
Trustees appointed Thomas Morello as task force coordinator and confirmed continued service by Green Committee members Ellen Edwards (chair), Charles Mears, Pam Lippe, Maria Trejanian and Carol Upshur. The resolution also named two student representatives to be named later and listed institutional partners, including a representative from NewYork-Presbyterian and Greg Hart.
Village officials said the Climate Smart Communities program—established by New York State to help municipalities plan and implement climate actions—has guided Bronxville’s sustainability steps since the village joined nearly four years ago. Trustees and staff described the proposed public forum as a way for large institutional users to show the community their energy and stormwater projects, with the goal of identifying potential synergies and practices residents and businesses might adopt.
At the meeting staff said the village has worked with Lawrence Hospital and is scheduling meetings with Iona and other partners. Trustees approved the task force appointments by voice vote; the motion passed unanimously.
