Village board approves site plans, permits and budget adjustments; tables Fairlawn B&B

The Village of the Shore board approved several site plans, temporary-use permits and fiscal adjustments at its Feb. 18 meeting and set multiple public hearings for March and April.

The board approved a determination of nonsignificance under the State Environmental Quality Review Act and the site plan for 166 South Grove Street (Aurora Players), voting to carry the motion after a second. The board also approved a special-use permit for a restaurant operating as Favell Pizza/utility dessert service at 160 Main Street, with updated hours (11 a.m. to 10 p.m.), 68 exterior seats and reduced interior seating.

Other approvals included site-plan SEQR and the site plan for 634 Main Street (Taste Bistro) to modify an alcove entry, a temporary-use permit for the Bunnyhop 5K (Rotary Club) on April 19, and a Hamlin Park temporary-use permit for the Kiwanis Club chicken barbecue on June 4. Trustees approved a permission for the mayor to sign a service agreement with Bradley Tree for arborist services and approved budget adjustments and budget modifications for fiscal year 2024–25.

The board also took administrative actions to set public hearings for Monday, March 17, 2025, on a site-plan application for 123 Grama Street (emergency generator, dumpster enclosure, and outdoor patio) and to set a March 17 public hearing for an amended special-use permit for a Starbucks (interior seating and proposed outdoor patio). The board referred a special-use permit for painted wall signs at 636 East Fillmore Avenue to the planning commission for its March 4 hearing. Trustees voted to clear surplus police Ford Explorers for auction within the next 90 days.

One application was tabled: the special-use permit for a bed-and-breakfast at 21 Fairlawn Court (applicant absent). Board members voted to table the item rather than decide in the applicant’s absence.

Why it matters: The approvals clear a slate of local development and event permits and put several projects on the calendar for public review. The arborist contract authorizes professional support for the village’s tree work, an item that drew heavy public comment during the meeting.

What’s next: The board scheduled additional public hearings in March and April and will continue to receive updates from DPW and staff on contractor schedules and pending projects.
