Trustees approve relaying unpaid water, sewer and sanitation charges to county tax roll

Wappingers Falls, N.Y. — The Village of Wappingers Falls Board of Trustees voted unanimously May 14 to forward unpaid 2023 water, sewer and sanitation accounts to the Dutchess County Department of Real Property Tax for relievery on the 2025 county tax bills.
Under Resolution No. 17252025, Treasurer Lori Java was authorized to submit unpaid accounts to the county on or before May 15, 2025, so they may be placed on the 2025 county land tax bills, which are issued in January. Trustees approved the measure by motion and recorded a unanimous roll-call vote.
The trustees read totals for different service areas during the meeting: for the Poughkeepsie side of the village sewer was reported at $17,894 and water at $17,644; other totals included residential garbage and sanitation accounts. The combined total of accounts identified for relievery to the county was reported as $378,282.
What happens next: Treasurer Lori Java will forward the unpaid accounts to Dutchess County by the May 15 deadline for placement on the 2025 county tax roll.
