Board approves entering professional-services agreement for McCord Road sanitary-sewer work and flow monitoring

The Lucas County Board of County Commissioners on May 5 gave permission to enter a professional services agreement to continue sanitary-sewer work along McCord Road and to continue flow monitoring at the county recreation center.

Sanitary Engineer Jim Shaw said the work follows prior efforts along McCord Road and noted that the sewer ultimately discharges to the Maumee River Wastewater Treatment Plant, which the county identified as the Maumee River Water Resource Recovery Facility. "This is to continue our work with Fishbeck on our sanitary sewer along McCord Road that ultimately discharges to the Maumee River Water Resource Recovery Facility, which is now known as a water resource recovery facility," Shaw said. He also said the scope includes continued flow monitoring at the rec center related to sanitary sewer flow leaving that facility.

The permission to enter the professional-services agreement was approved as part of a package of motions the board adopted; the clerk recorded affirmative votes during roll call. The board did not provide the dollar amount or contract term at the May 5 meeting; staff said details of scope and schedule would be handled in the agreement and follow-up materials.

The agreement continues previously started engineering and monitoring activities intended to manage sanitary flows and inform system planning that affects downstream treatment at the Maumee River facility. Commissioners directed staff to prepare the formal agreement and post any required notices.
