Williamsville panel approves demolition of deteriorated garage at 28 Park

The Williamsville Historic Preservation Commission voted to approve demolition of an existing garage at 28 Park after members were told a new garage has already been built behind it and the older structure is in poor condition.

The owner’s representative told the commission the building permit for the property covered both demolition and construction and said the older garage’s roof, foundation sill and much of the siding were deteriorated. The representative said the new, taller garage is already in place and that the family will secure required permits and inspections going forward.

Commission members discussed whether the older garage could be designated a landmark.
