Town staff updating Sustainable Jersey materials told the committee that the township has identified substantially more than the 350 points required for Silver recertification and plans to submit a prioritized set by the May 16 preliminary deadline.
A staff member explained she prepares a spreadsheet of potential actions, assigns responsibilities and links supporting documents. "We need 350 to submit for silver certification, and we always submit at least... a hundred points more because they rip it apart, basically," she said. Based on preliminary work she estimated about 620 points are available to pursue, and staff will select roughly 450 of the easiest-to-document points for submission.
The staff member said the next step is a Green Team meeting to review the actions and remove any items that are not feasible. She said the township may also qualify for one or more Sustainable Jersey "gold star" recognitions in categories such as health, water or energy, but she cautioned that deeper research is needed to confirm gold-star eligibility.
Ending: Staff will convene the Green Team to finalize the submission package and aim to file the preliminary recertification materials by the May 16 deadline.
