The Franklin Township Trails Committee described plans to relaunch a popular “Walk All Trails” program this spring, partnering with the mayor’s wellness campaign to encourage residents to use township trails and to highlight accessible routes.
Committee members said the program will use a simple digital sign-up (a Google form) and include a mix of township trails (ADA-compliant and wooded paths) with recognition from the mayor’s office for participants who complete the selected set. Safi (Saffy) Callan, who runs the mayor’s wellness campaign, offered to partner and to provide modest giveaway items tied to the mayor’s local health assessment funding.
Ideas discussed included running two participation levels — one limited to township trails and a second that includes additional nearby trails — pairing the program with guided hikes, and adding a photo contest or social-media component to raise visibility. The committee also discussed converting participation data into metrics (miles walked, calories, vehicle-miles avoided, greenhouse-gas equivalents) that could support public-health and environmental reporting.
The committee hopes to start the program in April, and agreed to further develop the details in trails subcommittee meetings and coordinated outreach with the mayor’s wellness campaign.
