Planning board approves dock additions and variances for multiple lakefront properties

The Hopatcong Planning Board approved applications to install or enlarge docks at multiple lakefront properties during its May 6 meeting, granting variances or resolutions after hearing from applicants and staff.
Property owner Leonard Lang and his representative told the board they sought to build docks to protect a pontoon boat that they previously kept against a seawall. Lang said they corrected an application discrepancy: "I need to put something on. Your application, on the first page states adding a 30 foot across by 10 foot wide at the end of the dock, and I see your plan shows 20 feet. So I just wanted to make sure the application is consistent with what you're submitting. That's a 20 feet. Correct?" Lang confirmed the plan was for 20 feet.
The board voted to approve Lang's dock. The roll-call recorded affirmative votes from Mr. Zamora; Mr. Dimon; Mr. Pottymick; Miss Brock; Miss Snow; Mr. Taylor; Eric Galati; Chairman Ray; and Mr. Muske.
Another applicant, Walter Allen Rosson, said his dock became longer and wider during repairs: "It's now 30 feet long and, almost 12 feet wide." He said the change arose while replacing support posts and I-beams after foundation work. The board reviewed variances tied to irregular lot shapes and other citations and indicated no objections; the board approved Rosson's application by roll call with votes recorded as Mr. Diamond; Miss Croft; Miss Snow; Mr. Taylor; Mayor Galati; and Chairman Ryan among those voting yes.
A prior request on the agenda described a new dock installation at Bocce Vault Court; the board approved associated resolutions earlier in the meeting. Board members and staff noted that the new or modified docks do not encroach on side-yard lines and that plans showed compliance with projected lot lines into the lake. Several applicants were advised to confirm dimensions and septic or other background site constraints if applicable.
The approvals were routine land-use decisions; applicants were advised they may proceed with permit submissions consistent with the granted variances and the board's conditions.
