Open Space staff reported that volunteer Chris Williams prepared an itemized list of materials (plywood, treated lumber, exterior siding, shingles, fencing) and estimated material costs at about $1,800. Staff said the volunteer would sign a waiver and that public works (DPW) might supply materials or equipment, potentially lowering cost.
Committee members recommended the building department inspect the structure’s framing—“the bones”—before repairs start. The committee also encouraged volunteer coordination and offered assistance from the trails committee and other volunteers. After discussion, a committee member moved to approve spending up to $2,000 from the Open Space Trust Fund for materials and incidental costs; another member seconded the motion and the committee approved the expenditure by voice vote.
Staff said if the building department confirms the frame is sound, DPW would handle ordering materials and the volunteer team would proceed with the work after hunting season (March), with volunteers available from the trails committee.
