Commissioners discussed partnering with the Shade Tree Commission and local nonprofits, hiring a field technician to manage monitoring, and using citizen science sensors to benchmark conditions. Staff said about 10 of these grants will be awarded this year and emphasized federal reporting requirements if awarded. The commission asked staff to finalize the application and circulate it; the application deadline was noted as January 17 in discussion.
