Commission approves McDonald’s preliminary plat in Jubat Crossing area

The Livingston Parish Planning Commission on March 6 approved a preliminary plat and final site plan process for a proposed McDonald’s in the Juba Crossing area.

Linfield, Hunter & Junius civil engineer Alex Sapp told the commission he is the civil engineer on the project and that the team was available to answer questions. Engineering reviewer Morgan said engineering comments had been addressed and recommended approval; Morgan also noted the development lies within the Juba Crossing drainage area so a separate drainage-impact study was not required, though the project must conform to the Juba Crossing drainage plan.

Planning staff recommended approval. After brief discussion—Commissioner Burns made the motion to accept the preliminary plat and a second was recorded—the commission voted to approve the item. “Yes. Okay. That item passes,” the chair said following the vote.

Clarifying details: engineering staff said the parcel conforms to existing drainage work done for Juba Crossing and therefore does not require a separate drainage-impact study; the applicant still must conform to the Juba Crossing drainage design. The applicant and planning staff indicated the project team will follow remaining site-plan and permitting requirements.

Ending: The approval moves the McDonald’s project from the informational/public-hearing phase to the next steps in permitting and final-site review.
