Venus City Council approves consent agenda, appoints Michelle Crane; discusses eminent domain for water tower

The Venus City Council on March 10 approved its consent agenda, appointed Michelle Crane to Place 3 of the Venus Community Services Development Corporation and held an executive session to consult with the city attorney about a potential eminent domain action for a water tower site.
The council moved and seconded approval of the consent agenda and the motion carried 4-0. The council then considered appointment of a board member to Place 3 of the Venus Community Services Development Corporation; the council moved to appoint Michelle Crane and the motion carried 4-0. Council members noted the vacancy resulted because Vice Chair Bobby Matthews moved outside the city limits and resigned.
The council recessed to executive session under the Texas Government Code. The mayor cited Texas Government Code section 551.001 and section 551.071 for consultation with the city attorney regarding a resolution to authorize the use of eminent domain to condemn property rights and fee simple for approximately 4.95 acres located at 920 County Road 110 for the public purpose of constructing a water tower. The council recessed at 6:40 p.m. and reconvened at 7:28 p.m.; when asked if action was required as a result of the executive session, none was taken.
No other formal votes or ordinances were recorded during the open meeting. The council adjourned at 7:29 p.m.
