Staff previews amendment to plan development for property at Honor Lane seeking Office 1 use

The Planning and Zoning Commission on April 21 heard a staff preview of a requested amendment to the plan development for a property described in the transcript as "12:52 Honor Lane," where the community-center requirement and the original veteran-focused purpose of the development have changed hands.

"This is to amend the plan development for what was originally a veteran community," Planning and Development Director Brian Chandler said. "Maybe the intent was for this to be a veterans community, but I think a lot of those, homes attached single family homes were sold to non veterans," he said. To make the parcel "economically viable," staff has worked with the applicant to propose Office 1 as an allowable use rather than retail or neighborhood service uses. Chandler described Office 1 as "certainly appropriate for that location ... in terms of parking, you know, compatibility with the neighborhood."
