The Harlingen City Commission approved the purchase of a tractor, a shredder and a pickup truck for the planning department’s code-enforcement work after staff described the current tractor as at the end of its useful life.
Christopher Torres, speaking for the planning department, said the division is “in dire need of a tractor, a shredder, and a pickup truck” to maintain city-owned properties and keep up with mowing and clean-up work. Torres said staff had been patching the existing equipment but that replacement was now necessary.
A motion to approve the purchase was made and seconded from the dais; commissioners voted in favor and the motion carried. The resolution authorizes the city manager to proceed with the procurement and budgeting steps necessary to complete the purchases.
Ending: staff will return purchasing paperwork to the commission’s administrative files and proceed with vendor selection and delivery scheduling.
