Josephine project manager reports steady progress on community center; staff accept monthly update

Why it matters: The building houses public safety functions and community space; progress and any unforeseen construction issues could affect the opening schedule and FF&E staging. Staff said the overall project schedule and budget remain the same and that only one small change order is expected for power outlets and IT conduits.
Ethel said forthcoming work includes ceiling framing and interior finishes, driveway paving and final interior finishes; roll-up doors had been installed and FF&E deliveries were underway. She noted one area of concern: flooring in the kitchen area may be affected by persistent moisture near an ice maker, and staff are monitoring adhesive performance and will determine if remediation is required.
Council members asked clarifying questions. One councilmember asked about Atlas Inspections’ role; staff said Atlas is a contracted inspector for the city that conducts mechanical and general inspections. Staff also confirmed MCA is the vendor for police interview-room cameras and audio. Council voted to accept the AGCM report, 3-0.
Next steps: Staff will continue monitoring the flooring issue and report back if remediation or a change order is required; the project remains on schedule according to the monthly update.
