Gage County approves consent agenda and $1.6 million in claims; supervisors disclosed conflicts and abstentions

Separately, the board considered two claims pulled from the consent agenda: claim number 25040353 to Hard Rock Quarries LLC for $190.45 and claim number 25040359 to RL Team and Construction Inc. for $125,549.64. Supervisors handled those two claims on the regular agenda because of potential conflicts and company involvement by board members. The motion to approve the two pulled claims was moved and seconded; the meeting record shows the vote carried with one abstention and the rest in favor. The minutes record the final total of claims paid to date after the approvals as approximately $1,634,050.37.
Other consent items approved included noxious-weed evaluation filing with the state (the county weed superintendent’s annual review), specification approval for a replacement 1-ton 4x4 pickup (bid re-opened with bids due May 28), and the cancellation of a previously issued check to American AED LLC after a procurement issue.
The consent agenda passed on a roll call; no further discussion of contested claims was recorded. Supervisors noted the noxious-weed report identifies locations of phragmites and thistles and tracks continuing education for the weed superintendent.
