Chris Wood, a District 9 resident, told the Fort Worth City Council Feb. 18 that a man he encountered at the Trinity Metro Mercantile Center station missed a trip because his phone had died and the man’s digital train pass could not be shown.
Wood described offering to help but ultimately being unable to lend a charger. After the conductor asked for passes, the man was forced to disembark and missed a planned trip to Fort Worth Central Station. Wood said he reported the incident to Trinity Metro through its GoPass app and by phone but received no substantive response.
"Therefore, I believe Trinity Metro should provide electric outlets at their train stations so customers can show their passes that they purchased on the Trinity Metro app," Wood said. He framed the request as a practical change that would help homeless riders and other customers whose phones die during travel.
Wood also described wider reliability issues for riders who use both buses and trains, saying gaps in tracking and long waits can leave riders without power for long stretches; he suggested station outlets as a low-cost fix to reduce those burdens. There was no Trinity Metro official response recorded in the meeting transcript.
