York County highway superintendent reports Road W reopened, Road 12 work near completion

Harvey Keim, York County highway superintendent, told the Board of Commissioners on May 13 that the Road W bridge reopened to traffic last Friday and that work on Road 12 is nearly complete.
The update matters because bridge and road reopenings affect traffic, local farm and school routes and the county’s maintenance schedule.
Keim said piles were driven and concrete was poured for Road 12 "about 02:30 last Thursday," and crews placed riprap and dirt under the structure "to keep the water off of it so those piles will last a lot longer." He said the county planned to reopen that section on Thursday to allow concrete patches to cure.
Keim reported crews are addressing pavement cracking and preparing for additional culvert work on a designated route. "Otherwise, we're still hauling gravel and rock and Lake Roads," he said, and noted that "All of our interstate bridges are passable now."
No formal votes or budget requests accompanied the update. Keim and commissioners discussed routine maintenance priorities and the timing for reopening Road 12.
The highway office will continue scheduled maintenance and inform the board of any changes in schedule or funding needs.
