Sweet Home City Council approved committee and commission appointments on April 13 after pulling the item from the consent agenda because Mayor Susan Coleman reported a potential conflict involving a relative.
The appointments in the packet included selections for the budget committee and the planning commission. Councilor Bronson moved to adopt the appointments as recommended; the motion passed with six yes votes and one abstention (Mayor Coleman). Councilors voting yes included Councilor Richards, Councilor Sanchez, President Pro Tem Thorstad, Councilor Augsberger, Councilor Bronson and Councilor Hagee.
The remaining items on the consent agenda — an intergovernmental agreement with Oregon Cascade West and minutes — were approved earlier without dissent.
The council’s action recorded the abstention to avoid any possible appearance of impropriety; staff noted the abstention before proceeding with the vote.
